Chocolate & Dark Foods
With Halloween and other candy-heavy holidays filling the calendar for the next few months, you’ll want to be sure you can get out the occasional chocolate stain! First, like with most food stains, you’ll want to scrape off whatever you can. Then mix some dishwashing detergent with water and apply to the stain with a sponge. Rinse with some lukewarm water and the stain should be out in no time!
Pizza & Greasy Foods
This one may sound strange, but to get out fatty or greasy food stains try using your iron! After scraping off the remaining materials, layer some paper towels on top of the stain. Then use your iron on the paper towels (on the lowest heat) to lift the grease. Finally, apply a mix of white vinegar, soap, and lukewarm water before rinsing, et voila!
Using Club Soda
It may sound like a myth to some, but using club soda on stains can be a really effective way of getting your carpet clean. The key is to always blot, don’t rub. Blot the stain with a cloth soaked in club soda and see how well it works. If you’re still having trouble, try mixing equal parts white vinegar and water to a spray bottle and spray the area. After letting it sit for around 10 minutes, press down with a clean sponge to absorb both the solution and the stain!
